Residential Solar Solution
Residential TNB customers can benefit from installing solar PV system at their premise by participating in the Net Energy Metering (NEM) program.
The NEM scheme was introduced by the government to enable TNB residential customers to reduce their monthly electricity bills. Home owners can install solar PV system on their rooftop after appointing a SEDA approved vendor to obtain the necessary approvals. Once approval has been given, installation of solar PV can commence. TNB will make an appointment to send a technician to check the installation and install a new NEM smart meter at your premise. The electricity generated from your system will be for your own consumption. Any excess electricity produced will be exported and stored by TNB grid for use during night time.
All excess electricity credits must be consumed by 31st December of the calendar year and cannot be carried forward to the following year.
For more information on the NEM program, please visit the following Seda website https://www.seda.gov.my/reportal/nem/

Commercial and Industrial Solar Solutions
Self-consumption (SELCO) or known as SELCO is an initiative by the government to encourage commercial and industrial consumers to install solar PV systems on their commercial or industrial buildings where electricity is being generated for own usage and any excess is not allowed to be exported to the grid. This is an incentive to the rising cost of electricity.
The solar PV system size is regulated by TNB and the following link explains the maximum allowed solar PV system based on the guidelines from TNB.

What is GTFS 4.0?
“The government continues to support the development of green businesses with the reinstatement of the GTFS 4.0 up to RM1.0 billion for the period until 31 December 2025. The financing scheme will continue its support to six (6) key sectors which include Energy, Manufacturing, Transport, Building, Waste and Water.
GTFS 4.0 will also continue to provide the 60% to 80% government guarantee on the green component cost financed by Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) as well as the rebate of 1.5% per annum on interest/profit rate. One of the main enhancements of GTFS 4.0 is the inclusion of Housing Developer and Low Carbon Mobility Infrastructure to be eligible for financing investments related to Building and Transportation projects. The Housing Developer and Low Carbon Mobility Infrastructure is eligible to obtain a maximum financing of RM100 million and RM50 million respectively. The financing scheme continues supports other categories such as Producer, User and ESCOs which have been introduced in the scheme previously.
The implementation of GTFS 4.0 is important to ensure green technology-based projects continue to receive support, which will directly contribute to the growth and development of the green technology industry and also catalyst to the Climate Change policy” (source: https://www.gtfs.my/faq#n34742 )
